MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A former mayor of Richmond, Minn. was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing money from his baseball team.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Scott Kron, of Richmond, was arrested on offenses of felony theft and misconduct of a public officer or employee.

Stearns County began looking into Kron in May of 2014 when it was reported by the Richmond baseball team that their bank account was missing an undetermined amount of money from their charitable gambling proceeds.

At the time Kron was the captain of the team. He was also the mayor of Richmond.

According to the St. Cloud Times, Kron resigned as mayor in June, citing personal and health reasons as his reason for leaving office.
