Fmr. Minnetonka High Booster Club Head Pleads Guilty To Stealing Funds
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 56-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing almost $7,000 from Minnetonka High School's Nordic Booster Club.
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office says Bruce Quentin Bailey, who was the president of the booster club from August 2013 until mid-January of 2014, stole $6,800 from the fund.
The criminal complaint states he had only repaid $500 to the fund before being confronted by Minnetonka High's athletic director about the missing money in late January.
Bailey told the AD he would repay the money, but then stole $6,465 from the school's track and field association account to replenish the stolen booster funds.
The school's AD reported Bailey to Minnetonka police soon after. Bailey eventually paid back both accounts.
He will be sentenced on March 18, when he is expected to get a stay of imposition. He will get probation upon successful completion, and his felony theft charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor.
Bailey will also likely serve some community service.
