Fmr. Deputy Who Killed Wife & Her Sister Asks To Be Released From Mental Institution

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A former sheriff's deputy in Wisconsin is asking to be released from the mental institution he's committed in.

Last year, Andrew Steele pleaded guilty to killing his wife Ashlee and her sister Kacee Tollefsbol of Lake Elmo.

A jury found he was not legally responsible for their deaths, due to mental disease or defect. Steele suffers from the degenerative disease ALS.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports one of his attorney's says his health has declined at a fast pace and he has limited use of his hands and fingers now.

They are concerned the mental facility he's in won't be able to meet his medical needs.
