Fmr. Corrections Therapist Sentenced For Having Sex With Juvenile

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A former contract therapist for a St. Paul juvenile corrections facility has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and 15 years of probation for having sex with a 17-year-old boy under her care.

Thirty-year-old Karen A. Meyer could go to prison for three years if she violates any terms of her probation, including no unapproved contact with males under 18 and no contact with the victim.

Assistant Ramsey County Attorney Sarah Cory told the court Friday the victim was incapable of understanding the gravity of the situation given his age and life circumstances.

Meyer pleaded guilty in July to third-degree criminal sexual conduct. Other charges were dropped. She was charged in February with helping the boy escape from Boys Totem Town, then having sex with him at her home.
