Flu Claims Life Of 4th Minn. Child, Hospitalizations Down

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fourth child has died from influenza in Minnesota since late September, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

The flu still remains widespread throughout the state, although hospitalizations and school outbreaks were significantly lower than last week.

The MDH says there were 33 hospitalizations in the week ending Jan. 3, which is 44 fewer than the previous week.

There were also zero reported outbreaks in Minnesota schools, compared to 34 the week before.

The identity of the latest young victim of the flu has not been released.
