Flour Spills When Semitrailer, Train Collide Near St. Paul

ST. PAUL PARK, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a crude oil train and a semitrailer carrying flour collided at a railroad crossing south of St. Paul that local officials are calling to be closed.

Local reports said no one was hurt in the crash around noon Sunday in the city of St. Paul Park. Officials say flour was spilled onto the roadway, but the crude oil train was intact.

St. Paul Park Mayor Keith Franke says officials have had concerns about the crossing for some time, and the city is trying to close it. There were warning lights at the crossing but no safety arms, and it sits near a refinery.

State Rep. Dan Schoen, who represents the area, says the accident could have been "much worse" if the truck was carrying something more volatile than flour.
