Flooding, Mudslides Affect Travel In Western Wisconsin

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Mudslides and flooding caused by heavy rain are making travel difficult in some parts of western Wisconsin.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Crawford and Vernon counties and parts of Monroe, Jackson, Trempealeau and La Crosse counties.

Local law enforcement says excessive runoff from the rainfall has caused mudslides and flooding that have washed or reduced travel on roads in eastern La Crosse County and western Monroe County.

Three to five inches of rain fell by mid-morning.
