Flights Canceled At MSP As Blizzard Bears Down On East Coast
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The National Weather Service says the blizzard bearing down on the East Coast could be one of the worst snowstorms the region has ever seen, and it's causing flight delays and cancellations at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
On Friday morning, the airport saw a surge of travelers looking to get out east before the storm clouds settled over the area. More than 77 million people live in the storm's path.
While some were able to make flights to certain airports, many travelers were forced to spend the night – or even the entire weekend – in the Twin Cities.
Flights departing for Memphis, Nashville, Washington and Raleigh were canceled Friday morning. Likewise, flights scheduled to leave Friday afternoon for Washington, Nashville and Charlotte have also been scrapped. In all, thousands of flights were cancelled nationwide.
Those looking to fly anywhere on the East Coast this weekend are encouraged to check their airline's website for changes.
