Fire In Eden Prairie Damages Home, No Injuries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Crews in Eden Prairie spent this chilly Thanksgiving putting out a fire.

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon in a duplex on Belvedere Drive and Pioneer Trail.

It destroyed the left side of the duplex.

Thanks to a firewall between the two units, the other side wasn't damaged.

Two people inside the burning unit made it out to safety.

But it was a tough fight for the crews working in such cold weather.

"We have to keep the hose lines open so don't freeze, which means that we have water flowing constantly in every line we have open and trucks. So a lot of ice and sand going down to keep crews safe," Becky White, assistant fire chief, said.

Investigators don't yet know what sparked that fire.

Firefighters from eight departments, many of them volunteers, helped douse the flames.
