Fire Destroys Crosslake Resort Cabins

CROSSLAKE, Minn. (AP) — A fire has destroyed two cabins at a Crosslake resort.

The Brainerd Daily Dispatch reports the fire at Beacon Shores Resort on Whitefish Lake was reported just before 11 a.m. on Firday. Firefighters from three area departments found the attached cabins fully engulfed in flames.

They battled the fire for much of the day and had to return to the resort around 5 p.m. when the fire rekindled.

Karen Scholz and her husband, Dan, own the resort. She said the cabins are among four they rent out throughout the winter. She said neither building was rented when the fire broke out.

Crosslake is 140 miles north of Minneapolis.
