Fire Damages Minneapolis Apartment, 1 Injured

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said one person was injured and an apartment was damaged in a fire Sunday morning in south Minneapolis.

Crews were called to the 3100 block of 22nd Avenue South at about 6:30 a.m. on a report of a fire at a three-story apartment building. When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing from the lowest level of the building and a search for victims was initiated.

Authorities said one person, a civilian, suffered a head injury after falling while exiting the building. That person was taken to a hospital and their condition is not known.

Crews were able to put the fire out, and officials said it was contained to one unit in the complex. There were no firefighters injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
