2018 Minnesota Caucuses To Be Held Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Now that the Super Bowl has left town, political leaders want to remind you it's going to be a busy campaign year. And it all starts with caucuses Tuesday.

"With two U.S. Senate seats, four swing congressional races and an open governorship on the ballot, there's a lot at stake this election," Minnesota DFL Chair Ken Martin said.

Democrats and Republican parties are holding caucuses Tuesday night. No delegates will be chosen, so it's more of a beauty contest. But there will be a straw poll for governor between the six Democratic candidates and five Republicans.

The decision about who will run will be decided at the state party conventions in June.

"We're getting behind our candidates. We're out there with a message of optimism and positivity and we believe that we will resonate with the voters in November," Minnesota Republican Chair Jennifer Carnahan said.

If you're interested in caucusing, all you have to do is show up.
