Fight Involving 70 Juveniles Shuts Down Iowa Corn Festival

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — The St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival has ended for the year as scheduled after closing early one night because of several fights between about 70 juveniles.

The fights that broke out Saturday night caused the festival in Cedar Rapids to be closed down more than an hour early.

Six people were arrested on various charges, including assault on a police officer. The officer suffered only minor injuries when kicked and punched by a teenager.
