Man Ordered To Pay Child Support For Kid He Didn't Father

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Iowa man is upset over a state law that's making him pay child support for a kid that isn't his.

Joe Vandusen, 45, received a letter from the Iowa Department of Human Resources ordering him to pay child support, but Vandusen hasn't seen his estranged wife in 16 or 17 years.

According to the Des Moines Register, the Department of Human Resources says that in cases like Vandusen's, a husband would be considered the legal father of his wife's newborn child.

He has reportedly started a fundraiser to help him with his legal expenses.
