1 Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting In Burnsville

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Burnsville.

According to the Burnsville Police Department, just before 8:30 p.m. officers were called to a report of a suicidal man at an apartment complex on the 1600 block of Cliff Road East.

Officers were told the man had threatened suicide and left the apartment with a gun. Crews then began to search the area, and the State Patrol helicopter was brought in.

About an hour later, the State Patrol helicopter identified an individual in a tree line near the complex.

As police approached him they said they saw the man had a gun and an officer fired, killing the man.

Police have not yet shared that man's name. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will be investigating the shooting.
