1 Dead, 2 Injured In Isanti Co. Rollover

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One man is dead and two other are injured after a rollover accident in Isanti County late Thursday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford LGT was traveling southbound on Highway 65 near Goodland, when it left the road. It rolled one-and-a-half times before stopping in a ditch.

Mark Wirtjes, from Bovey, was ejected from the car during the crash. The 56-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two others, 29-year-old Christopher G. Smith, of Bemidji, and 32-year-old Michael P. Vail, of Cass Lake, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

They were taken to the hospital.

State Patrol has not released information on who was driving. Alcohol was detected on Smith and Vail, but not on Wirtjes.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
