1 Dead, 1 Injured In Itasca County Head-On Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead and another person is injured after a head-on crash in Itasca County Sunday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, just after 8 p.m. 30-year-old Adam F. Holecek, of Deer River, was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 2, just east of Warba, when he crossed into the eastbound lane and hit 38-year-old Shawn P. Springer, of Superior, Wis.

Springer ended up in the eastbound ditch, while Holecek ended up in the westbound ditch.

Holecek died on the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Brian J. Watson, of Grand Rapids, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Springer suffered no injury.
