1 Dead In Head-On Crash In Mahnomen Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person is dead after a head-on crash in Mahnomen County early Friday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, just after 2 a.m. a Freightliner tractor, driven by 44-year-old Derek J. Clark of Greenbush, was traveling southbound on Highway 59 when a Nissan Altima traveling northbound crossed the center line. The two vehicles collided head-on.

The Nissan was driven by a 36-year-old man from Grand Forks, N.D. The passenger was a 35-year-old woman from Menahga.

The driver of the Nissan was killed. The passenger suffered serious injury. Clark was not injured.

State Patrol said alcohol was detected on the woman but not the man.

This incident is currently under investigation.
