Fatal Crash In Itasca Co. Under Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The State Patrol says it is investigating a fatal sideswipe crash Monday on Highway 2 in Itasca County.

Preliminary information shows the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. just east of Grand Rapids.

A Volkswagen Jetta, heading eastbound, drifted into the westbound land and sideswiped a Chevy Silverado.

Three people were in the Volkswagen. One person was in the pickup.

Two passengers in the Volkswagen were not hurt. The driver of the Volkswagen, 57-year-old Russell Locken, has died. The other driver was not injured.
