2 Killed In Eagan Crash, Alcohol Suspected

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two drivers are dead after a crash in Eagan Thursday night in which authorities believe alcohol may have been involved.

Police say the crash happened near the intersection of Cliff Road and Dodd Road.

A Ford pickup truck authorities believe was heading east on Cliff Road and a Chevrolet Equinox heading west collided at about 9:30 p.m. The pickup truck was driving in the opposing lane, according to investigators.

Authorities said that the driver of the Chevrolet was 51-year-old Monica Oliveros Strout of Bloomington. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, 53-year-old Daniel John Schmidt of Eagan, was taken to Regions Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

There were no other people in the two vehicles.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting the Eagan Police and Fire Departments in their investigation.
