Teenager Killed In Norman County Broadside Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A teenage boy was killed in a broadside crash in Norman County Sunday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, just before 10 p.m. a Dodge Avenger, driven by a 16-year-old male, was traveling west on County Road 39 when it crossed in front of a Dodge Ram, driven by a 20-year-old male, that was traveling north on Highway 9.

The Dodge Ram then collided with the Dodge Avenger's driver's side in the intersection.

The Dodge Avenger and Dodge Ram both went east and rolled. The Avenger came to rest on its roof then caught on fire. The Ram came to rest on its back wheels.

The 16-year-old driver of the Dodge Avenger was killed.

The 20-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was detected in his system.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating.
