Minn. Farmers Expected To Plant Less Corn, More Soybeans
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota farmers are expected to plant less corn and wheat this year.
There are surpluses of corn and wheat in storage in the U.S., so many farmers will grow soybeans instead.
A prospective planting report from the Agriculture Department expects Minnesota farmers to plant nearly 8.5 million acres of soybeans this year, a record-breaking amount of acres.
Corn acres are expected to reach 8 million, the fewest since 2010.
