MAC: Blizzard Cancels 175 Flights In & Out Of MSP Airport

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota's Tuesday snowstorm is causing a significant amount of cancellations and delays at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission say 175 flights -- including arrivals and departures -- have been cancelled as of Tuesday night, and more than 80 flights have been delayed.

Wind was a major problem for the airport, leading to the closure of two of their most-efficient runways, according to officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration says some arriving flights are delayed on average of five hours and 51 minutes.

The FAA says this is just general airport conditions, so travelers should check with their specific airline to determine if their flight is affected.

MAC says crews will work through the night to get those two runways back in operation.
