Explosive Device Found In Public Bathroom Detonated

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say they were called to a public bathroom at a park near Bricelyn, Minn. last week after an explosive device was reported inside.

The incident happened Wednesday, July 9, according to the Faribault County Sheriff's Office.

A worker mowing grass in Legion Park found what appeared to be a stick of dynamite in the outdoor restroom at about 7 p.m. that day.

The Bloomington Bomb Squad was sent pictures of the device, and came down to Bricelyn to dispose of it.

Bomb technicians moved the object from the restroom to the outdoors and detonated it, causing what the sheriff's office described as a good-sized explosion.

There were no other similar items found in the park, and authorities didn't say whether they have any leads on who may have placed it in the restroom. Anyone with information or who sees any similar objects, is asked to contact the sheriff's office.
