Excellent Educator: Plymouth Middle School's Benjamin Drexler

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Every Friday we take the time to recognize one of the great teachers in our community. This week, we're honoring Benjamin Drexler.

Drexler teaches 8th grade math at Plymouth Middle School. He was nominated by his students!

This is only his third year teaching, but he's definitely a student favorite at the school. They even bring him presents on his birthday.

Drexler's ability to be fun, personable and patient with students is what makes him this week's Excellent Educator.

His students tell WCCO he is very helpful when a student doesn't understand something or when someone asks a question. He really wants them to succeed in school and is willing to explain tricky things, even if it's for only one student.

He also runs marathons. His students give him a hard time because they say all he talks about is math... and running.

Drexler plans to run Grandma's Marathon this year in Duluth.
