Ex-Boyfriend Charged With Murder In Missing Woman's Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An ex-boyfriend has been charged in the death of a missing woman from Redby, Minn.

Rose Downwind's body was found in a shallow grave Wednesday night northwest of Bemidji. Authorities say she had been missing for nearly two months.

Police say Marchello Cimmarusti of Bemidji turned himself in Wednesday and led investigators to the body. He's now charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case.

Another Bemidji man, 31-year-old Brandon Rossbach, is charged with aiding an offender for his alleged role in disposing of Downwind's body. Downwind was the granddaughter of American Indian Movement co-founder Dennis Banks.

A criminal complaint states that Cimmarusti told police he didn't intend to kill Downwind, but an argument got out of control.
