Eveleth Man Injured In Car-Moose Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An Eveleth man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a collision with a moose on a St. Louis County road, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

According to the state patrol, the driver, identified as 62-year-old David Kwiatkowski, was traveling on Highway 53 in his 1998 Buick Century when a moose walked out into the road.

According to Lt. Tiffani Nielson, Kwiatkowski suffered minor injuries and was taken to Essentia Health in Virginia, Minnesota with cuts and contusions. Nielson added that he was fortunate it wasn't worse.

Nielson says the moose was killed in the incident. The driver didn't see the moose and didn't know he hit it until afterwards. Moose are difficult to see at night because they are so dark and their eyes don't reflect
