EPA To Host Open House On Contamination Concerns In St. Louis Park

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Environmental Protection Agency is inspecting a site in St. Louis Park that residents fear is contaminating their water.

It's happening at Louisiana Oaks Park off of Highway 7. The park was the site of a wood treatment plant from 1917 until the early 1970s.

Residents say the soil is still contaminated and is moving into drinking water wells. So, the EPA is hosting an open house Thursday night to discuss its inspection.

There, representatives will talk to the community about the history of the site, the cleanup that was done, ongoing monitoring procedures, and the protective measures in place.

The open house will be held at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
