Elderly Woman Suffers Life Threatening Injuries In Pierce Co. Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An elderly woman is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after a fire in Pierce County Friday morning.

According to the county sheriff's office, authorities responded at 10:35 a.m. to a residential structure fire at N6864 County Road O in River Falls Township.

There, the lone occupant of the residence – Alice Merta – was found and airlifted to Regions Hospital.

The house was a total loss.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but no foul play is suspected.
