Elderly Woman Killed In Isanti Co. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An 85-year-old Princeton woman is dead after a crash in rural Isanti County Wednesday morning, according to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office.

At 7:05 a.m., the Isanti County Communication center received several calls reporting a crash in the area of Isanti County Road 5 and Feldspar Street Northwest.

When authorities arrived, it was determined that a Buick traveling eastbound began to fishtail and hit the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected, went into the westbound traffic lane and was struck by a Jeep. Witnesses told police that the Jeep had no time to react to the vehicle in its lane.

The driver of the Buick, 85-year-old Eleanor Melvina Lindahl, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 42-year-old Andover woman, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities say road and weather conditions were a contributing factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
