Elderly Man Run Over, Killed By Tractor In Southern MN

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 78-year-old Hanska man is dead after being run over by his tractor in south central Minnesota, according to the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday afternoon, the victim identified as David Porter Olstad was at the Farmer's Co-op of Hanska with his tractor prior to the fatal accident.

The sheriff's office says Olstad was outside of the tractor when it began moving forward. When he attempted to climb back on to stop it, he slipped and was driven over by the rear tire of the tractor as well as the first tire of the wagon behind the tractor.

When emergency responders arrived, Olstad was taken to the New Ulm Medical Center and later the Hennepin County Medical Center. He later died at an undisclosed time.
