USDA: Bacon Prices Go Up, While Eggs Have A Great Fall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Shoppers are getting over easy on egg prices, but will soon get fried by the cost of bacon.

The United States Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday that eggs are the cheapest they have been in two years. A dozen Grade A eggs have dropped about 30 cents on average in March, costing about $1.79.

But bacon prices are jumping by about 12 cents per pound a month -- which is about 40 cents more than this time in 2015. The beloved pork product costs on average about $5.61 per pound.
