Edina's Dylan Malmquist Named Hockey Player Of The Year

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Edina senior forward Dylan Malmquist has been named the Minnesota Associated Press Player of the Year for high school boys hockey.

The award was announced Monday. Joining Malmquist on the AP's all-state team were Elk River forward Jacob Jaremko, East Grand Forks forward Dixon Bowen, St. Thomas Academy defenseman Seamus Donohue, Hill-Murray defenseman Jacob Olson and Lakeville North goalie Ryan Edquist. Edquist was a junior, and the rest of the honorees were seniors.

Malmquist will play next at Notre Dame, after becoming Edina's all-time leading scorer. The Hornets captain finished the season with 28 goals and 44 assists in 28 games. He was hit by a puck on the back of the knee in their state quarterfinal victory over Bemidji and sat out of their semifinal loss to Duluth East.
