Eastview's Guebert Named AP Player Of Year

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Eastview senior guard Madison Guebert has been named the Minnesota Associated Press Player of the Year for high school girls basketball.

The award was announced Monday with the AP's all-state team.

Guebert helped lead the Lightning to the Class 4A state championship game, where they lost 68-60 Saturday to Hopkins. Joining Guebert on the first team were Hopkins senior T'aire Starks, Roseville senior Monica Burch, Shakopee junior Taylor Koenen and Rochester John Marshall junior Jamie Ruden.

Guebert has signed to play at South Dakota State next season. She averaged more than 20 points per game for her career. As a senior, Guebert led the Lightning to their fourth straight state tournament while shooting almost 90 percent from the free-throw line and nearly 45 percent from 3-point range.
