E-Cigs To Be Included In Hennepin Co. Smoking Ban

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – E-cigarettes will soon be included in the smoking ban in Hennepin County.

The ban prohibits smoking at places of employment, restaurants and bars in Hennepin County.

The county board approved the policy Tuesday.

That means electronic cigarettes will no longer be allowed in any indoor spaces governed by the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air act.

This new ordinance takes effect March 10th.

Anyone that violates the ordinance can be charged with a misdemeanor.

Health officials say the potential long term effects of e-cigarettes are not clear.
