Duplex Fire In NE Mpls. Displaces 2 Families, Kills 3 Pets

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A duplex fire in northeast Minneapolis has displaced two families this holiday season.

Fire officials say the fire started just before 7:30 p.m. night in the 1800 block of Polk Street Northeast.

Four adults and three children got out OK, but three dogs and a cat did not survive.

Fire and smoke damage was sustained throughout the duplex, including a partial collapse of the roof and second floor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but an investigation found nothing suspicious.
