Dump Truck Crashes Into Overpass In St. Croix Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A dump truck rolled over on Interstate 94 early Monday morning after hitting an overpass in St. Croix County.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, just before 2 a.m. officers received a call of a dump truck crashing into an overpass on I-94.

Upon arrival, police learned that a dump truck, driven by Susan Blank, of Hudson, Wis., was traveling eastbound on I-94 when it struck the County Highway BB overpass.

Officers said the box of the truck was not fully lowered onto the body of the truck, so when Blank tried to drive under the overpass the box hit the underside.

The dump truck box became wedged vertically between the road and the underpass, while the body of the truck separated itself, traveled into the median and rolled onto the side.

Debris from the bridge fell into eastbound lanes of I-94, but no cars were hit.

Blank was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured in the accident.

The overpass has been shut down and a bridge inspector has been called in to inspect the damage.

All of the debris was removed from eastbound I-94, but both lanes are closed as crews work to remove the dump truck. They are expected to reopen shortly.

The crash is currently under investigation.
