Canadian Cops Threatening Drunk Drivers With Nickelback

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Cops in Canada appear to have taken a page from their counterparts in Minnesota in threatening to subject drunk drivers to disagreeable pop music on their rides to jail.

Police in the Prince Edward Island town of Kensington posted on Facebook over the weekend that they'd make those arrested for drunk driving during the holiday season listen to the department's cassette copy of Nickleback's "Silver Side Up." The album features the 2001 single "How You Remind Me."

The message to the Canadian community came just days after police in Wyoming, Minnesota, tweeted that they'd subject those arrested for drunk driving to a squad car ride filled with tunes from "One Direction cover bands."

Both messages from the police departments went viral on social media. It's unclear, however, if the post from Canada was directly inspired by the tweet from Minnesota.
