Teenage Boy Latest Victim Of Drowning In Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Three people have drowned in Minnesota lakes in the past few days, including a teenage boy who died while swimming in Martin County.

Sheriff's officials say 16-year-old Chasen Lee Degrote, of Fairmont, was swimming with friends in Sisseton Lake Wednesday afternoon when he disappeared under water. Divers recovered his body about 90 minutes later.

Two people drowned in metro-area lakes over the weekend, including a 7-year-old girl who had been swimming at a lake in Bloomington on Sunday. The body of a 35-year-old Mounds View woman was recovered Sunday in Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka, a day after she went missing on the lake.

Also, an 89-year-old woman died after she was found unresponsive Saturday on Long Lake in Orono, but the medical examiner says she apparently died of natural causes.
