Report: Sharp Drop In Minnesota Residents Buying Health Insurance

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Despite record signups in the state's health insurance exchange, fewer Minnesota residents are buying coverage on their own, according to reports.

Nearly 270,000 residents bought insurance in 2016 on the individual market; Minnesota's open enrollment fell to 190,000 as of this month.

Industry experts and state officials say the drop could be linked to premium hikes and the federal uncertainty surrounding health care.
