Driver Who Fatally Crashed Through Freeway Wall Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials have identified the driver who died Wednesday after crashing through a freeway wall in the west metro and landing on Interstate 394.

The State Patrol says 52-year-old Matthew Lynch, of Minneapolis, was going north on Ford Road in Minnetonka when he failed to stop at Wayzata Boulevard.

Instead, his Jeep Grand Cherokee slammed into the freeway wall, broke through and he fell onto the eastbound lanes of 394.

The State Patrol says he wasn't wearing a seat belt and that his airbag didn't go off.

No one else was injured in the crash.
