Driver Leads Police On Long, Winding Chase On I-394, I-94

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnetonka police say a texting driver led authorities on a 10-mile chase through the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon.

Police says the driver, who was in what appeared to be a gray sedan with out-of-state registration, fled from officers who were trying to pull them over for texting while driving at about 3 p.m. near Hopkins Crossroad in Minnetonka.

The driver, who police say made "furtive movements" to the back seat, fled east on Interstate 394, continuing onto I-94 through the Lowry Hill Tunnel.

Sirens and lights weaved through rush-hour traffic until authorities called off the chase near I-35W in Minneapolis.

The Minnesota State Patrol issued a state-wide broadcast for the suspect to be pulled over and identified.
