Driver Involved In Sleepy Eye Fatal Accident Now In Fair Condition

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. (WCCO) – The condition of one of the drivers involved in the crash that killed four people and left four injured in Sleepy Eye has improved. According to North Memorial Medical Center, Kansas Adams was listed in fair condition Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place roughly at 8:18 p.m. Friday, March 7 according to Lt. Eric Roeske.

Adams, of Sleepy Eye, lost control on a curve while traveling westbound on Highway 14 near Sleepy Eye.  Officials said he then crossed into the eastbound lane and was broadsided by a Dodge pickup truck driven by 43-year-old-Douglas Wiborg of New Ulm, Minn.

All four of Adams passengers were killed: 17-year-old Payton Adams of Sleepy Eye, 17-year-old Caleb Quesenberry of St. Peter, 18-year-old John Mangen of Fairfax and 20-year-old Tyler Hadley of Sleepy Eye.

Wiborg was driving with his two children. All three sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
