1 Dead In Douglas Co. Drowning

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man was found dead on a lake just south of Alexandria late Monday night, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Just before 8:30 p.m. the sheriff's office received a call of an empty boat floating on Lake Andrew.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the owner of the boat had gone fishing around 3:30 p.m. The owner had not returned as scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Around 7:30 p.m. the family became concerned and began checking the lake.

They found the boat and called 911.

The victim, identified as 61-year-old Glenn Charles Steffen of South St. Paul, was recovered just after 10 p.m. along the east shore of the lake.

He was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
