Sheriff: 12-Year-Old Girl Drowns In Douglas Co. Channel

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities in Douglas County are investigating the apparent drowning of a 12-year-old girl.

The sheriff's office was notified about the young girl in the water channel between Lakes Cowdry and Darling Friday at about 5:30 p.m.

She was found in about three feet of water about 30 minutes later.

The girl was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Saturday afternoon, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office identified the girl as JaLysa Cook of Alexandria.
