Patrol: Victims Killed In Elk River Crash Identified As Victoria & Stanley Swen
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Patrol says two people were killed Sunday evening in a crash on Highway 169 north of Elk River.
Sixty-eight-year-old Victoria Swen and 77-year-old Stanley Swen, both from Elk River, died in the crash, which occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Highway 169 southbound at 221st Avenue Northwest.
A pickup truck, driven by 42-year-old Wesley Cemenski, of Princeton, was traveling southbound on Highway 169 in the left lane.
The crash happened when the SUV carrying the Swens was trying to cross westbound over the southbound lanes of Highway 169 to 221st Avenue Northwest. When the SUV pulled out, it was struck by Cemenski's pickup truck.
Both vehicles went off the road, striking a sign and coming to a stop on 221st Avenue Northwest on the west side of Highway 169.
Cemenski was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The State Patrol is investigating the crash.
