2 Beloved Dorset Restaurants To Reopen

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Looks like a small Minnesota town can keep its title of "Restaurant Capital of the World" after all.

After two years, Companeros and the Dorset House are returning to Dorset, Minnesota, the town made famous by its 3-year-old mayor.

On Facebook, Companeros announced it would be reopening in time for Cinco de Mayo.

Companeros was destroyed in September 2014 after its neighboring restaurant, the Dorset House, caught fire during a severe storm.

Both restaurants were burned to a state of disrepair.

Nearly a year after, in September 2015, both restaurants announced they would not be rebuilding. However, after just one month the owners announced a local couple stepped up to rebuild the structures.

Now, both restaurants will open in time for the holiday weekend.

Companeros will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. It will be open 5 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Dorset House will also be open for ice cream throughout Mother's Day weekend.
