Dog Who Lost Leg In Shooting Now Up For Adoption

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A local rescue dog is now walking on three legs after an animal organization says he spent years with a painful injury from a shooting.

Sunny is a 7-year-old Chow Chow-Golden Retriever mix with Pet Haven in Minneapolis. His foster mother says he was injured in a shooting several years ago and recently received surgery to amputate one of his front legs.

According to a Facebook post from the organization, Sunny quickly caught on to the concept of walking on three legs, and has even attempted going up and down stairs.

In a press release, Pet Haven says Sunny's life has never been easy. When the rescue group first took him in, he tested positive for heartworms and had to have all of his teeth pulled from constantly chewing rocks due to hunger.

If you would like to adopt Sunny, or want to find other available pets, visit Pet Haven's website.
