Dodge Center Man Dies After Car Collides With Train

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 56-year-old man died Saturday evening in southern Minnesota after a car collided with a train.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office said the collision happened around 8 p.m. at the railroad crossing on 4th Avenue Southeast in Dodge Center.

Steven L. Johnson of Dodge Center was the driver of the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, 27-year-old Adam Grunklee of Owatonna, was checked over by emergency workers and released.

Following the collision, the railroad crossings on 4th Avenue and Airport Drive were closed as railroad officials investigated the scene. The crossings have since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
