DNR: Space Available At Several State Parks For Memorial Weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Looking to get away for Memorial Day weekend?

It's the unofficial start of summer, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says there are still campsites available at several state parks and recreation spots. Officials say most of the available space is in northwestern Minnesota.

At least eight state parks have a dozen or more campsites available for the three-day weekend as of May 16. Those include the following: Hayes Lake State Park in Roseau, Kilen Woods State Park in Lakefield, Lac qui Parle State Park in Watson, Lake Bronson State Park north of Thief River Falls, Red River State Recreation Area in East Grand Forks, Rice Lake State Park in Owatonna, Schoolcraft State Park in Deer River and Zippel Bay State Park on Lake of the Woods.

There are also other options if you're looking to stay just one night or two. To make a reservation, go to the DNR's website or call (866) 857-2757.
